Leaf hails their AFi-II medium format digital camera as the most flexible camera in the world. It’s a proud boast, but coming from a manufacturer with such a highly regarded reputation as Leaf, we can rest assured that it’s no spurious claim. A scrutiny of the AFi-II’s revolutionary features and impressive specs will readily confirm the validity of Leaf’s assertion.
To begin with, Leaf integrates the best materials and technology in the AFi-II to deliver a unique experience in digital photography. The ergonomically designed body has easy-to-use controls and it has been ruggedly engineered to withstand the rigors of heavy professional usage. Best-of-class German lenses are used for the optics and to complete the picture, it has the widest, most versatile sensor on the market and integrated Leaf Capture workflow software.
The Leaf AFi-II system is the bee’s knees for ergonomic handling. The imaging module, display screens, handgrip positions and sensor orientation can be adjusted to suit any shooting style. The LCD touch-screen tilts up to 90º for easy viewing from nearly any angle, and its brilliance and excellent contrast makes it easy to view both indoors and out. There are three viewfinder options (waist level, 45° and 90°), all offering full functionality including built-in light metering and information display.

Wireless Preview
Using Leaf WiView via Bluetooth, client or art director can view shots on wireless devices such as HP iPAQ Pocket PC.
The Leaf AFi-II also offers two special focusing features: one is the focus trap where you can set the autofocus to trip the shutter at a specific focus distance. This will prove a great boon to action photographers as the subject can be precisely nailed exactly when it is in sharp focus. The other feature is focus bracketing that allows the capturing of a series of images that automatically adjusts the plane of focus for each shot like exposure bracketing. By using third-party focus stacking software, the different planes of focus can be combined into a single file.
Three models of the Leaf AFi-II are available. The Leaf AFi-II 10 has a 56x36 mm CCD with a resolution of 56 MP. Next in line is the Leaf AFi-II 7 with a 33 MP 48x36 mm CCD and the AFi-II 6 comes with a 28 MP 44x33 mm CCD.
