Journey with Alex Soh... Day 23: Huangshan

Posted on Nov 20, 2009 in Journey with Alex Soh

Caught the 6.15pm flight at Guangzhou this evening and two hours 15 minutes later, I arrived in Tunxi (??), which is located within Huangshan (??) City, to the sight of falling snow! What a nice change of season!

I asked around for directions to a place called the Old Town of Tunxi and ended up taking a taxi there for 30 RMB. Strolled around and decided on a youth hostel to spend the night... 40 RMB per bed per night seemed reasonable to me. I chatted with the counter assistant at the hostel for a while and found out that there is a 6.15am bus tomorrow morning that will take me to the mountains of Huangshan (also known as Mt. Huangshan or Yellow Mountain) for 18 RMB. Great!! With my travel itinerary for tomorrow settled, I went out (it was still snowing!) in search of some food to fill my hungry stomach and returned with a pack of cup noodles, plus some supplies in preparation of my hike up the mountains tomorrow morning... I know it's going to be a long, tiring day ahead so I better get as much rest as I can tonight!
