Journey with Alex Soh... Day 26: Leaving Mt. Huangshan

Posted on Nov 21, 2009 in Journey with Alex Soh

Making my descent of the mountain this morning and while one might think he/she has seen it all on the way up, I am still in awe of the scenery now. Here are some of the pictures I've captured along the way before I hopped onto the cable car...

From the foot of the mountain, I took their local bus to town and believe me, it was such a horrible experience! There were moments on the bus - and it's not just this ride; it has happened to me so many times already - when I feel like I'm being transported around like a pig. From my pick-up point at the foot of the mountain, the bus went round and round the area trying to pick up more passengers and halfway through the journey, I was asked to alight and transfer to another bus which was half-full. What should have been an hour's drive ended up taking 2½ hours! In the bus, people smoked and spat freely and I could smell all kinds of "fragances".

Above all that, I had a wonderful time in Huangshan and I believe it's one place that I would like to come back to visit again in another season. For now, my next stop is Shanghai. Cheers!
