Manny Cabo: "Rotolight is undoubtedly my little rockstar in my arsenal of lighting equipment!"

He has managed some of the world's top photo studios, and worked with some of the world's best photographers including Annie Leibovitz, David Lachepelle and Jerry Avenaim. His images have been published in numerous newspapers and magazines. He is Manny Cabo, owner of Cabo Noir Studios, and he's got some really good things to say about the Rotolight!

Manny Cabo and model Theia Monera during a photo session at Cabo Noir Studios

Absolutely gorgeous picture (and model, of course!), isn't it? We love especially how the model's cat-like eyes are so beautifully illuminated! It's no surprise that this photo, along with several others as you will soon see below, was shot with the Rotolight Interview Kit as the only light source, thus giving the signature "Rotolight RingLight" effect.

Can't get enough of the Rotolight effect? Here's more:

The above photos were all shot with the following:

  • Nikon D3X
  • Nikkor 28-70mm lens (set at 40mm)
  • ISO 400
  • Aperture f/4.0
  • Shutter Speed 1/60th sec
  • Customized White Balance Pre-Set (with the help of a color calibrator)
  • Rotolight Interview Kit
  • #184 Cosmetic Peach Rotolight Filter (to compliment the model's light skin tone)

And here is what Manny had to say about the Rotolight:

"Having been a professional fashion and commercial photographer for close to 13 years, I have literally implemented every available strobe unit known to man. Much of my work is in the realm of beauty that often requires nice, even illumination. The Rotolights provided just that and then some. The constant illumination afforded me consistent, accurate, and efficient light readings and measurements, and the ability to monitor my shadows and highlights with tremendous ease. This undoubtedly afforded me more time to focus on my execution of the shot.

The #184 Cosmetic Peach Filter was more than enough for this shot to provide a nice, smooth warm tone to the model's skin tone. They (the Rotolights) are super simple to set up and break down, so (there's) no need to hire an extra assistant to untangle cables. All in all, I would never leave my studio without my Rotolights... they are undoubtedly my little rockstar in my arsenal of lighting equipment."
