The Rice Project
Like photographs, every grain counts. With the increasing price of rice, people without proper shelter and little or no income are struggling to make their ends meet.
Initiated by a group of passion-driven photographers from theredtree and working hand in hand with Canon as the main sponsor, we believe that through this first stage of photo essay contest, more photography talents in Singapore can be discovered. With good story-telling skills and photography, true-life stories can be shared and raise more public awareness to help.
Our efforts to distribute rice is just the first step to pave the way to restoring more houses for people in Sri Lanka who are still suffering from post-Tsunami effects. The 6 winners of this contest would embark on a once-in-a-lifetime photo expedition to photograph beautiful Sri Lanka and the places that have been affected by the Tsunami in 2004. Get ready to react to real-life situations and enjoy the spirit of photojournalism. After the expedition, a major photography exhibition will be held to showcase everyone’s work. Proceeds from the sale of the photos will be used to raise funds for the restoration of the Tsunami victims who are still homeless. So let your photographs touch lives today.

Objectifs’ Fashion Photography Workshop
A Professional Series Workshop by Geoff Ang
Led by Geoff Ang, one of Singapore’s leading fashion photographers, this intensive workshop introduces intermediate and advanced level photographers to the craft of fashion photography.
As part of Objectifs’ Month of Fashion Photography in November 2005, this event marks the 3rd year of collaboration between Geoff and Objectifs in conducting a professional series workshop. During the recently-concluded workshop, the participants learnt about the photographer’s process from conceptualization, execution to presentation and were exposed to industry-level possibilities while working with professional equipment and set-ups during hands-on shoots.
On the technical front, the participants worked with Mamiya 645AFDII medium-format cameras, fully equipped with Leaf digital camera backs in a studio environment complete with Elinchrom lightings. Rounding up the professional-level experience, the participants got to direct their own shoots by working with models from Mannequin and local fashion labels including Baylene.
The workshop ended with a digital imaging session on Adobe Photoshop, during which the participants were given an insight to Geoff’s techniques on image editing.
An exhibition was held from 2 – 16 December 2005 at Objectifs to showcase the participants’ works with exhibition-quality images printed on an Epson 9600 large-format printer. Here, we are proud to present a selection of these images for your viewing pleasure.
