Rogue Photographic Design
Innovative Small-Strobe Lighting Tools

Created by the same team of geniuses behind ExpoDisc, Rogue Photographic Design is a new range of versatile lighting equipment catered to small strobe lighting enthusiasts, offering remarkable power to control the light from their shoe-mount flashes.

Rogue FlashBender

Rogue FlashBender is a system of unique shapeable light modifiers for shoe-mount flash that gives unparalleled control over strobe lights at a reasonable price. Rogue FlashBenders give you:

  • Freedom of Form - Rogue FlashBenders are more versatile than any other reflector on the market. Its unique, patent-pending design incorporates positionable rods that enable the user to bend and shape the reflector to virtually any position in seconds, and have it stay there until you reform it.
  • Better Light - Rogue FlashBenders product brighter images with better contrast and colors as it is made from carefully-selected durable, washable, spectrally-neutral matte white material that efficiently reflects 86% of the light when used as a reflector.
  • Superior Convenience - Rogue FlashBenders were designed to quickly and securely attach to the flash without the need for separate straps or adhesives. This built-in attachment capability simplifies life for users because it reduces the need to carry separate products. And its limited use of Velcro means that they can be easily stowed in backpacks and gear bags without the annoyance of having them stick to and pull at everything.
  • Years of Durability - Rogue FlashBenders are manufactured from the highest quality Cordura nylon fabric, long-lasting steel positionable rods and a durable, washable reflective fabric to withstand years of use in demanding conditions.

Rogue FlashBenders are compatible with most of the popular shoe-mount flashes, including Canon, Konica, Metz, Minolta, Nikon, Nissin, Olympus, Panasonic, Pentax, Quantum, Sigma, Sony and Vivitar.

FlashBender - Large Positionable Reflector

Versatility is the key word here. The Large Positionable Reflector can be used in three ways: as a reflector to bounce light onto a subject, as a flag to shield light away from it or as a snoot to produce a tight and narrow circle of light. Because of its size, the Large Positionable Reflector is perfect for off-camera use.

Features:

  • Three Positionable Rods for Easy Molding
  • Built-In Easy Attachment Belt (fits all makes and models of shoe-mount flash)
  • Weight: approx. 163g
  • Dimensions: approx. 25.4 x 28cm

FlashBender - Small Positionable Reflector

Like its larger version, the Small Positionable Reflector can be used as a reflector to bounce light onto a subject, as a flag to shield light away from it or even as a small snoot to produce a wide circle of light. About half the size of the larger version, the Small Positionable Reflector is the perfect tool to bring around in your camera bag or on-camera.

Features:

  • Two Positionable Rods for Easy Molding
  • Built-In Easy Attachment Belt (fits all makes and models of shoe-mount flash)
  • Weight: approx. 92g
  • Dimensions: approx. 25.4 x 17.8cm

Bendable Bounce Card / Flag

The FlashBender Bounce Card can be used as both a reflector to bounce light onto a subject, or as a flag (using either the built-in white surface or the included black fabric attachment) to shield light away from it.

Features:

  • One Positionable Rod for Easy Molding
  • Built-In Easy Attachment Belt (fits all makes and models of shoe-mount flash)
  • Weight: approx. 68g
  • Dimensions: approx. 12.7 x 22.8cm

Rogue XL Pro Lighting Kit

In studio or on-location, the Rogue XL Pro Lighting Kit gives photographers creative lighting control using speedlights, making a variable width strip box, a low profile soft box, or a multi-surface reflector. This durable, compact system of flash modifiers packs flat and takes up very little room in a gear bag.

Sold in a single kit, the XL Pro Lighting Kit consists of one each of the following items:

  • XL Pro FlashBender White Reflector - allows you to control directional light by bouncing, curving and reflecting the light where you want it.
  • XL Pro Strip Box Diffuser Attachment - is used in combination with the XL Pro FlashBender for greater edge lighting control. You can adjust the variable width of the strip to control how wide your light source will be and where the edge between highlight and shadow will fall.
  • XL Pro Soft Box Diffuser Attachment - is used with the XL Pro FlashBender to create more directional light than the base reflector alone, directing light forward and preventing it from going straight up. The diffusion fabric reduces specular highlights, making for a beautiful main light for portraiture.
  • XL Pro Silver/Black Reflector Attachment - is used with the XL Pro FlashBender to create a higher contrast light than the base reflector's medium contrast white material. The black side of the attachment can be used as a large flag, providing limited reflectivity while the light is directed forward along the reflector's edge.

Rogue Diffusion Panels

Ideally suited for location photographers using speed lights, Rogue FlashBender Diffusion Attachments provide additional light control for users of the Rogue FlashBender Reflectors.

Features:

  • Attaches quickly to FlashBender Reflectors (sold separately)
  • Softens light
  • Packs flat
  • Negligible light loss
  • Weighs 40-45 grams (1.5 oz)
  • Available in two sizes: Large Diffusion Panel (229mm x 203mm) and Small Diffusion Panel (229mm x 114mm)

Rogue Diffusion Panels Attach Easily to Rogue FlashBender Reflectors

Rogue Diffusion Panels attach quickly using hook and loop sewn along the edges of each piece.

Soft and Even Light

Rogue Diffusion Panels produce an even light across their surface, measuring differences of approximately 1/2 f-stop from center to corner. When attached to a FlashBender Reflector, Diffusion Panels show a negligible light loss compared to the bare reflector.

Rogue 3-in-1 Honeycomb Grid

The patent-pending Rogue Grid design features stacking honeycomb grids that provide 16-degree, 25-degree and 45-degree spot-lighting control. This means that photographers can choose among three different -sized grid spots using this small, lightweight system.

The Rogue Grid securely attaches to almost all standard shoe mount flashes using the included adjustable Rogue Tension Strap. The Rogue Grid may also attach to a snooted Small FlashBender reflector (not included).

Measuring 3.6" x 1.2" (92mm x 30mm), and weighing just 100g with the included strap, the Rogue Grid fits easily into any photographers' bag. It also comes with a durable nylon storage pouch that accommodates both the Rogue Grid and grid strap.

How Does The Rogue Grid Work?

The Rogue Grid's unique design utilizes precision-molded honeycomb grids that can be used independently for the 25° or the 45° spots, or stacked together to create the 16° spot. Because the honeycomb cells align precisely using the integrated alignment features, they can be stacked without creating unwanted shadows and reducing light output. When not being used, the stacked grids store conveniently inside the bezel.

What Does The Light Look Like From A Honeycomb Grid?

When attached to a light source, a honeycomb grid creates a spot of light with a gradual fall-off useful for adding dimension and depth to an image, or for highlighting important features. The angle of the grid determines the size of the spot projected forward, with smaller degree grids producing smaller spots, and larger angles producing larger spots.

How Are Honeycomb Grids Typically Used?

Grids are often used on off-camera flashes as hair lights in portraiture, or for background or accent lights anytime a photographer is interested in highlighting a portion of an image for dramatic effect. When attached to an off-camera flash, grids help draw attention to an object, texture, or color, and can help to create a desired atmosphere or mood in an image.

Choose from a range of reds, yellows, blues, and greens to punch up an image with color and create mood. Or, use the correction gels to balance your flash to ambient light.

Rogue Gels are made from the world’s highest quality materials from LEE Filters UK, the world’s leading manufacturer of lighting filter products.

How are Rogue Gels labeled?

We print directly onto the gels to ensure you always know what gel you’re using. Rogue Gels are individually labeled with the LEE Filter name of each gel, as well as the gel’s measured f/stop loss value, and when appropriate, the corresponding Kelvin color temperature correction and camera white balance icon.

The stated f/stop loss values were measured using a Sekonic light meter in a controlled test. These values compare the metered exposure of the bare flash with the metered exposure using the Rogue Gels placed over the flash head.

How are lighting gels typically used?

Colored lighting filters, or gels, are often used as accent lights, or to add dramatic color to backgrounds or selected portions of a scene for artistic effect.

Correction filters are typically used to adjust the color temperature of a flash to better match other light sources to improve overall color balance in an image.
