Cinetics™
Combining the Power to Captivate with the Luxury of Portability

What had begun as a Kickstarter Project in early 2011 by Justin Jensen - a mechanical engineer, photographer and filmmaker from Austin, Texas - quickly took off like wildfire once fellow filmmakers realized the value and potential of the CineSkates™.

Built by hand in Cinetics' garage in Austin, Texas, CineSkates is a set of three wheels that quickly attach to a tripod and enable fluid, rolling video in an ultra-portable package, thus the tagline "Put Your Cinematic Ideas in Motion".

Developed at the MIT Media Lab using state-of-the-art skateboard technology, the CineSkates "pull off sophisticated-looking camera moves with the nudge of a finger", as Fast Company put it, and is a "Smooth-Flowin' Video Genius" in the words of Gizmodo, and best of all, they can be yours for "spare change compared with what you might pay for similar pro-level gear", says CNET.

What Makes CineSkates So Cool?

Designed to work specifically with the Joby Gorillapod FOCUS tripod, the CineSkates allow you to produce shots that have previously been impossible or only possible with bulky, expensive equipment. Here are some examples of what CineSkates are capable of:

  • Arcing shots that rotate around objects
  • Sliding shots that push or pull the subjects into focus
  • Rolling shots that glide over the subject
  • Time-lapse shots that move the camera slowly and smoothly
  • Panning shots that scan a wide area
  • "Worm's eye view" shots that slide just above the floor

CineSkates opens up a whole new world of creative possibilities; besides mounting your camera on the CineSkates + Gorillapod FOCUS System (we call it the DSLR System), with the right tripod mount, you can also use this system with your GoPro HD Hero or HD Hero2 (GoPro System) and even your Apple iPhone 4 / 4S!

Give your wedding videos, music videos, product demos, etc. a totally unique perspective with the CineSkates!

How Do You Use CineSkates?

No rocket science is involved, we assure you. But like most innovations, there is a learning curve, which is why we have a Quick Start Guide to get your CineSkates rolling. Download it now.

How Much Weight Can CineSkates Hold?

CineSkates perform best with cameras less than 2.28kg (5 pounds). A DSLR, reasonably sized lens, and a mic generally work wonderfully.

How Do You Shoot Time-Lapse With CineSkates?

The wheels have a ruler system marked around the perimeter, and a tic mark on the lower part of the bracket, which are put in place specifically to help you with time-lapse shots.

Set your camera to shoot a photo at incremental times, and after every shot, move the wheel by one tic mark (or whatever distance you choose). You can put your lens cap in front of the wheel as a stopper to keep it from rolling during the shoot.

CineSkates are now available in our stores as a standalone (wheels with case only), DSLR System or GoPro System!

What Is CineSquid™?

CineSquid™ is a super strong, versatile suction cup camera mount system which allows filmmakers to capture previously unthinkable shots by attaching their camera to smooth surfaces, from any angle.

Expanding on the unique Cinetics Connect platform, developed to make CineSkates possible, the new CineSquid system combines powerful suction cup technology with the flexible GorillaPod Focus™ Tripod and BallHead X™ to create a portable and modular system that filmmakers can take anywhere.

Why Is The CineSquid Different From Other Suction Cup Mounts In The Market?

The flexible tripod attaches to contoured, multi-level surfaces, and users can even manipulate the camera frame once the suction cups are mounted.

The triple suction cup design ensures CineSquid will not lose its grip.

How Much Weight Can CineSquid Hold?

CineSquid works best with any camera with a standard tripod mount that weighs less than 2.28kg (5 pounds).

What Can I Do With CineSquid?

With CineSquid, even amateur filmmakers can capture stunning, Hollywood-style camera shots, including:

  • High-speed chase or automobile cruising scenes
  • Aerial views from the belly of an airplane up to 200mph
  • Scenic or landscape shots from a boat, train or any moving vehicle
  • Time-lapse video with a rock-solid connection to any smooth surface
