EIZO’s ColorEdge graphic monitors have attained legendary status for their colour accuracy and reliability. Since their launch last year they’ve garnered an enviable swag of awards. To name but a few, Professional Photographer Magazine gave it a 2007 Hot One Award for being the best the business has to offer. About.com(USA) gave a five-star award, commenting that the product is the epitome of LCD display excellence. The reviewer was clearly exceedingly impressed for him to say “Not only do I have no reservations about giving the Eizo five stars, but I sincerely wish I had more stars to award it.”

One feature that singles the ColorEdge monitors from the others is their use of hardware monitor calibration. With software calibration, colors are adjusted by manipulating the graphic board’s color output, which results in fewer displayable colors.

With EIZO’s hardware calibration, colors are adjusted within the monitor itself, so there is no loss of displayable tonalities. ColorEdge CE and the bundled ColorNavigator CE software offer hardware calibration for accurate and consistent color rated for smooth grayscale rendering. The result is a great degree of detail, especially in dark areas of an image.

Software calibration is simple and precise using a compatible measurement device from Datacolor – just set the target values for brightness, white point, and gamma. ColorNavigator CE works with the measurement device to directly utilize the monitor’s 10-bit look-up table for accurate calibration in less than five minutes. When calibration is complete, the settings can be saved as an ICC profile.

Every ColorEdge monitor is factory-adjusted. Each color tone from 0 - 255 is measured on the production line to produce a gamma value of 2.2 and to ensure color is displayed consistently.

Much attention has also been paid to ergonomics and aesthetics. Its innovative ArcSwing 2 Stand offers a curved range of movement so you can adjust the screen to various positions such as at an angle akin to reading a book, making it more comfortable for viewing. To avoid clutter, it also has a compartment in the back for cable management.

The front panel has sensitive electrostatic “touch” switches that give it a very contemporary appearance with the added benefit of being easier to engage than the small buttons of most LCD monitors.

The ColorEdge monitors come in two sizes. The ColorEdge CE240W has a 61 cm TFT panel while the smaller CE 210W has a 51 cm panel. Both have 178-degree viewing angles. Their outstanding 1000:1 contrast ratio makes images on dark backgrounds appear more vivid, brings out the subtle differences in similar shades of color, and ensures that colors retain their richness even in brightly-lit rooms.

If your work involves digital photography, graphic art, digital media, or any field where accurate color is important, you can’t make a better choice than to use EIZO ColorEdge Creator Edition (CE) monitors.
