A sure-sign of Datacolor’s commitment to innovation and commitment to delivering the most effective color calibration solutions available, the Spyder3 is “a significant leap forward,” in the words of Krista Behrand, the global product manager for Datacolor Spyder3. Still retaining its iconic Spyder form, the new Spyder3 boasts a sizzling and sleeker design that makes it significantly smaller than its award-winning predecessor, the Spyder2. It also comes embedded with an intelligent ambient light detector, which automatically measures the surrounding ambient light and captures a history of light conditions to distinguish light changes, as well as a desktop cradle that doubles as a tripod mount. Designed with professional photographers and creative professionals in mind, Spyder3 incorporates third-generation Spyder technology and a new easy-to-use, photo-centric user interface with features that you will need. One of the most notable improvements is the reduction in calibration time from 7 minutes with the Spyder2 to a breezy 5 minutes for an initial calibration with Spyder3; subsequent recalibrations need only 2.5 minutes! For the critical eye, this time-saver is a dream-come-true.
Bringing a new level of color control to digital workflow is the innovative proofing capability called SpyderProof, which allows professionals to perform a before- and after-calibration evaluation. What’s refreshing is the use of four quadrants of thematic photos, each chosen specifically for its strong representation in the areas of color saturation, skin tones, gradients, and black and white images respectively. The Spyder3 line includes a whole new exciting range of products to be launched, beginning with the Spyder3EliteTM and Spyder3StudioTM, which are now available in stores. In a coordinated move, the Spyder3 launch marks a significant change in the branding strategy for Datacolor’s consumer business unit. Previously a joint branding of Datacolor and ColorVision (a division of Datacolor since 2000), all its products will now be solely branded as Datacolor. |
