The Leica M EV1 combines the traditional values of the M-System with the advantages of an integrated electronic viewfinder (EVF). The dioptre compensation and practical focus assists facilitate precise manual focusing – in particular when using the fast Leica Summilux and Noctilux lenses at very shallow depths of field, as well as with ultra wide-angle, telephoto and macro lenses.

The brilliant viewfinder shows the image exactly as it will be when the shutter snaps – in line with the lens used, focal length and focus distance. All the camera settings are readily visible, without having to take the camera away from your eye. For optimum control when focusing and maximum creative freedom when composing images. The Leica M EV1 is equipped with an outstanding 60 MP full-frame sensor and, just like its sister models – the M11-D and M11-P – includes groundbreaking Content Credentials technology, which reliably verifies the origin of an image.

The Leica M EV1 is an Invitation to Trust, to Create, to Belong.

The First Leica M with an Integrated Electronic Viewfinder

The M encapsulates the essence of our philosophy like no other camera. It embodies timeless aesthetics and true photographic authenticity, paired with uncompromising craftsmanship and exceptional image quality. The Leica M EV1 honours this legacy while expanding its horizons.

The Easiest Way to Enter the Legendary M-System

Sharpness Precisely Where It Matters Most

With focus assist, the Leica M EV1 offers a seamless entry into the world of M photography. This makes manual focusing a matter of pure precision. Focus peaking highlights the active focus plane with a coloured overlay, offering real-time guidance to help you frame your composition. Used separately or additionally, the focus zoom with two levels of magnification ensures precise control. Particularly when using fast Summilux and Noctilux lenses with shallow depths of field and at close range, you can achieve sharp focus with the help of focus assist. For photographs as distinctive as your perspective on the world.

Crystal-Clear OLED Viewfinder

The high-resolution 5.76-megapixel EVF delivers brilliant colours and outstanding clarity, capturing every detail of your subject. All shooting data – shutter speed, aperture, ISO and exposure compensation – can be shown outside the image, allowing you to maintain full focus on your composition. An individually configurable eye sensor enables smooth transitions between the viewfinder and touch panel, while the dioptre adjustment from -4 to +2 fine tunes the viewfinder image to suit your vision.

See Your Images Before You Take Them

The Live View exposure preview displays every nuance – from brightness to image framing – in real time. Whether you’re working with ultra-wide-angle or super-telephoto lenses or creative photo filters, you maintain complete control over your composition, without ever taking your eye away from the camera. All settings are instantly visible, unlocking new creative possibilities with the Leica M. Using advanced tools like digital zoom, level gauge and perspective control, you can compose your images with precision, freedom and intuition.

Outstanding Image Quality

Technically, the Leica M EV1 builds on the foundation of the M11, featuring its 60 MP BSI CMOS full-frame sensor with Triple Resolution Technology – one of the world’s most advanced. Precise colour rendering, remarkable detail and a high dynamic range lend images the unmistakable Leica Look, with vivid depth and striking presence. Images can be captured in DNG or JPEG format at resolutions of 60, 36 or 18 MP. The powerful Maestro III processor handles data swiftly and reliably, storing it either on the 64 GB internal memory or an SD card.

Small Lever, Big Impact

The classic frame selector on the front of M-Cameras equipped with an optical viewfinder takes on a new function in the M EV1. It can be individually configured to activate one of the focus assist functions or the digital zoom for the EVF. Moving the lever to the left or right allows you to switch swiftly and intuitively between functions, ensuring your subject remains in view throughout. Through this considered refinement, the M EV1 combines classic mechanics with contemporary functionality.

Seamless Connection with the Leica FOTOS App

The Leica M EV1 connects swiftly and securely to the Leica FOTOS App via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or cable. Images can be reviewed, edited, backed up and shared straight away. Background transfer guarantees optimal speed: it automatically transfers previews to your smartphone via Bluetooth in an energy-efficient way. This ensures that all images are accessible at any time.

Confidence in Digital Image Content: Content Credentials

In an era shaped by AI-generated imagery, the pioneering CAI (Content Authenticity Initiative) technology is emerging as a vital foundation for building confidence in digital image content. In photojournalism especially, it functions as an essential tool for safeguarding the authenticity and integrity of each image. Like other Leica cameras, the Leica M EV1 is equipped with this technology and, if desired, enables the origin and history of an image to be clearly traced. All photographic parameters can be accessed in a tamper-proof format via https://verify.contentauthenticity.org/.
